Lynne Craig

Vice Principal, Gloucestershire College

Lynne Craig is the vice principal for curriculum and quality at Gloucestershire College; a large college of general further education. As part of her role she is also Site Principal for Forest of Dean Campus. Amongst her many duties she is responsible for quality improvement, e-learning and innovation, and the 14-19 schools partnership. She leads on teaching and learning, the student voice, tutorial, peer review and self assessment. Lynne has been college nominee for the last two Ofsted inspections and the IQER review.

Alongside this main role, Lynne became an Associate Inspector for the Training and Standards Council at its inception. She then transferred to ALI and to Ofsted, carrying out the full range of inspections and re-inspections.

Quality improvement has been a key theme to Lynne’s career. She was appointed director of teaching and learning/quality improvement at Gloucestershire College in 2003. The main focus of this role was to improve an ‘unsatisfactory’ teaching profile to ‘good’, which was successfully achieved by the 2004 inspection.  This profile has now become ‘outstanding’. During her time as director of teaching and learning Lynne sat on the National AoC Quality group and helped to develop guidelines for self assessment. She has continued this link with AoC as a representative on the South West regional thematic group for College Reputation.

Lynne is a keen advocate of peer review and is the current Chair of the South West Peer Confederation, a group of 20 colleges who meet regularly to share expertise and support each other.

Outside of the college Lynne is a director of Gloucester and Cheltenham Education In Business Partnership.
