Annual commitments

Members are required to attend four meetings a year, usually held in London. Meetings last half a day and will involve approximately half a day of reading preparation prior to each meeting. In a typical meeting the Council will hear a presentation on an aspect of LSIS’s work, followed by a plenary discussion

The Council elects a number of its Members to sit on the Performance Review Panel. The Panel’s role is to monitor on a quarterly basis, the impact of LSIS's services. Members of the Performance Review Panel are required to meet up to four times a year in addition to the above mentioned Council responsibilities.

Membership of the LSIS Council is a voluntary position. However, travel expenses to meetings will be reimbursed.

Chris Jeffery
"If you want to have a voice then you have to put yourself forward rather than sitting back and complaining about how things are being run. Being a Council Member keeps you more informed and gives you the opportunity to put your case forward."

Chris Jeffery, Managing Director, Academy of Training and current LSIS Council Member
