Steve Foote is a retired University Administrator having taken early retirement a couple of years ago. He graduated from Hull University with an economics degree. His first full time post was that of Assistant Registrar at the then South Trafford College before moving on to Elizabeth Gaskell College of Education in Manchester. Through amalgamations and promotions Steve became Faculty Registrar of the Faculty of Art and Design at Manchester Metropolitan University. When he joined the Faculty there were only 1600 students but this had expanded to over 3500 students by the time he left. He was responsible for all the support services of the Faculty and managed over 80 staff and the £10m plus budget. Quality assurance and more importantly improvement of the students learning experience was a central feature of his role. Whilst in that post he developed many links between the University and Further Education Colleges throughout the North particularly, but not exclusively, in the North West.
Throughout his children’s education he has been a Governor at a number of schools. He is currently a Governor of Ashton Sixth Form College (which is located in Tameside) and Chairs their Quality and Standards Committee. He is also a Governor at Glossopdale Community College in the High Peak
In his spare time Steve is a keen gardener and enjoys walking his dog through the glorious hills of the Peak District. He is actively involved in the community life of Hadfield (the town famous as being the setting for the dark TV comedy “The League of Gentleman”) where he lives with his family.
