A fresh approach to senior leadership and management development

12/09/2011

Senior leaders in the FE and skills sector are to benefit from an up-to-the-minute leadership pathway unveiled by LSIS.  It will help them develop the personal qualities, leadership skills and management capability they need to take their organisations – and careers – forward.

The Senior Leadership and Management Development Pathway is suitable for senior post-holders who wish to maintain or improve effectiveness in their current second-tier role.  It is also suitable for those who aspire to be college principals or executive leaders in other types of provider organisations.

The five modules combine high-level technical skills and knowledge with effective leadership practice, helping participants to develop the personal confidence to lead complex changes in the workplace.

The majority of the modules are designed to be taken independently or they can be combined to form a whole pathway.  They cover:

  • Leading in the current policy context
  • Corporate management for the senior leader
  • Leading transformational change
  • Leading strategic thinking
  • Leading strategic implementation.

This newly designed offer from LSIS retains much of the senior leadership development work from the successful Aspiring Principals and Senior Leaders Programme, which it now replaces.  It has, however, been updated and expanded to address contemporary leadership and management issues.

Each of the residential modules, which last two or three days, will be held at the University of Warwick, with the first starting on 7 and 8 December 2011.  For further details and how to apply, see the programme page on our website.
