ACL providers can benefit from the LSIS workforce data collection survey

12/09/2011

Adult and community learning providers across the country are being urged to take part in the workforce data collection survey which is open now and running until 28 October.

Delivered via an easy-to-use online survey, this important exercise will enhance the volume, reliability and clarity of information available for this part of the sector.  It comes at a time when more robust data on the FE workforce is seen as a key priority nationally.

The focus of the survey is on staff who are employed by each organisation and who were on the payroll between 1 August 2010 and 31 July 2011.  No organisations or individuals will be identified in the analysis, which will provide an aggregated picture only.

The data generated will help providers to benchmark their self-assessment activities, shape quality improvements and comply with statutory monitoring.  The main findings will be made available in November to help inform providers’ self-assessment reports.

The survey is targeted at all those who regard themselves as involved in adult and community learning.  These include:

• Local Authority ACL services, both those offering direct delivery and those who primarily contract-out provision;
• Providers classed as ‘independent former external institutions’;
• Other non-college providers in direct receipt of SFA funding who are involved in ACL-related work.

If you fall into these categories, please take time to complete the survey form.
LSIS is depending on high quality data to allow for detailed and reliable analyses.

The online survey, developed with the support of HOLEX, can be accessed now.

There are instructions available within the survey but it may be helpful to view the associated PDF document which provides the full list of questions.  You can use this to gather your data before completing the online survey form.

If you encounter difficulties in completing the survey, please contact: chitro.ghose@lsis.org.uk.
