Annual Governance Conference
02/02/2012
LSIS's Annual Governance Conference 2012 will be taking place on 22-23 March at the Midland Hotel, Manchester.
This year delegates will be able to explore the topic of 'strategic governance for a dynamic FE sector' as outlined in New Challenges, New Chances, and in Baroness Sharp’s review of colleges’ role in their communities.
The topic of new freedoms and accountability, which was recently discussed in FE Week by LSIS Chief Executive, Rob Wye, will be examined by the keynote speakers including Dame Jackie Fisher, chief executive of NCG which consists of three divisions - Newcastle College, West Lancashire College and the Intraining Group. Delegates will be able to learn how NCG has successfully met its strategic aims; engaging with the business community and growing to be the largest provider of learning and skills in England, and the third largest provider of adult apprentices.
Amarjit Basi, Principal of New College Nottingham, will also be giving a keynote speech. Since his appointment in September 2011, he has developed the college’s relationship with the community through ‘the big conversation’ and in a very short period of time has realigned the college to best serve the community.
