Our strategic ambitions
Our strategic ambitions for 2009 –10 to 2011–12 have been produced after extensive dialogue with the sector and endorsement by the LSIS Council, which made recommendations to the LSIS Board.
Mission
Our mission is: To accelerate the drive for excellence.
Vision
Our vision is that:
- every learner acquires the skills, knowledge and appetite they need for learning, living and working; and
- every provider is valued by their communities and employers for their particular contribution to sustainable social and economic priorities.
Our culture and values
We aim to be a high-performing organisation with a passion for learning and a dedication to being led by the needs of the sector. Our staff are committed to:
- delivering excellence – both through individual performance and supporting others to aspire and achieve excellence;
- adding value – as individuals and as an organisation through our innovation, creativity and expertise;
- learning, listening and responding – effectively and appropriately to the needs of learners, employers and the sector;
- taking responsibility – individually and collectively enabling the sector to take increasing responsibility for its own improvement; and
- championing inclusivity – as an exemplar resource and catalyst for equality and diversity across the sector.
The culture and values of LSIS will be experienced by others through the behaviour, relationships and interactions of our staff and those who represent us.
Strategic outcomes for every provider
We are working with you to achieve the following strategic outcomes:
- effective engagement strategies for learners, employers and communities;
- sector-wide excellence;
- outstanding teaching, training and learning; and
- equality, equity and respect for all.
Strategic platforms
You have asked us to dedicate our efforts to delivering the following strategic platforms to achieve our strategic outcomes.
- Offering customised services to providers through four new major priorities:
- maximising the use of sector expertise and mutual support;
- creating a network of LSIS development partners from the sector itself;
- ensuring that partners and colleagues working for LSIS manifest the behaviours that embody LSIS’s values and service aspirations; and
- promoting a new LSIS model of engagement.
- Developing effective strategic and distributed leadership and management at all levels.
- Supporting a professional self-improvement culture in every provider.
- Encouraging innovation and effective management of change throughout the sector.
- Supporting the sector to define, deliver and assess its own demanding standards for improvement.
- Facilitating opportunities for the sector to influence national policies.
