LSIS council
LSIS is also governed and advised by a member council made up of 30 members drawn to fully reflect the diversity and richness of the sector taking into account the nature and type of providers and geographic distribution.
The member council of LSIS is the legal membership of LSIS and will have the powers in the Memorandum of Articles to hold the board of LSIS to account at the annual and general meetings, as well as an advisory, consultative and representative role.
The first LSIS council members were nominated by representative constituencies of the Single Voice and selected by a panel of directors from the Single Voice.
In its second year elections were held to elect 30 Council members from within the constituent members of the Single Voice. Each constituency has an allocation of council places to ensure a broad representation of the sector itself, read more about the constituency allocation here. Each constituent group conducted its own election and appointments process, before a count was conducted by LSIS and supervised by the Electoral Reform Society.
