Chris Moody OBE
Principal, Moulton College
Chris Moody has been principal of Moulton College, Northampton since 1992. Moulton College, which has been a Beacon college since 2004, is now one of the largest providers of specialist further education in the UK, having grown from 230 to 4000 FTEs without merger since incorporation.
In 2007, following inspection by CSCS, Moulton was judged to be ‘Excellent’ under each of the five ‘Every Child Matters’ standards, and in 2008 was judged by Ofsted to be an ‘Outstanding College’ that provides ‘Outstanding Value for Money’.
Chris was awarded an OBE in the 2007 New Year honours list for services to further education and training.
Chris has been chairman of Landex – Colleges Aspiring to Excellence since its formation in 2006, having previously been chairman of Napaeo, its predecessor organisation. He has a particular interest in quality improvement through peer support, review and evaluation.
Chris is former member of the AoC Board and the Principals’ Professional Council. He is currently a member of the board of the Northamptonshire Connexions Partnership and the board of management of EMFEC. He is also a council member of the Royal Agricultural Society of England, and both the council and senate of the University of Northampton.
After working for a short time in the gas industry, he taught in a large comprehensive school before holding posts as senior warden, development manager and vice-principal in FE colleges.
Chris is a graduate of Aston, Bath and Bristol Universities and holds a master’s degree in Education Management.
