Mike Smith

Managing Director at GEN II Engineering & Technology Training Ltd

Mike Smith has over 25 years of experience in and around the learning and development sector, and is currently managing director of GEN II Engineering & Technology Training Ltd., an independent, not for profit, employer owned specialist training and education provider. Prior to becoming MD at GEN II, Mike worked for 20 years in the nuclear industry in a variety of senior roles including Engineering, Manufacturing, Project Management, and as a functional manager in HR. It was here that he started his associated with GEN II.

Mike is by profession a Chartered Engineer and a member of both the Institute of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE) and the Nuclear Institute. During his career he has had significant experience in the design and delivery of high quality training and education programmes (including apprenticeships and Foundation Degrees) to support the engineering and nuclear sectors. As a result, he has become a business leader within the FE Sector with an excellent track record of managing growth and increased quality in the provision of training and education services. He is also well experienced in higher education, further education (colleges) and school governance.
