A Review of Governance and Strategic Leadership in English Further Education
Commissioned by the Learning and Skills Improvement Service (LSIS) and the Association of Colleges (AoC), this report reviews governance and strategic leadership in the whole further education (FE) system, and in particular looks forward and reviews the implications of the proposed move towards shared regulation and the introduction of the machinery of government changes in 2010.
We hope the review will act as a catalyst for discussion at a time when the challenges for governance and strategic leadership across the sector are rapidly changing. The review takes stock of the framework for governance and strategic leadership in the:
- FE college sector;
- Adult and community learning sector; and
- Work-based learning sector.
This review sought to identify 'good' practice; however, it is important to recognise that in this diverse sector much 'good' practice is highly contextual. As always, providers need to identify what is 'good' practice for themselves in relation to their own positions.
This report is available to view in a number of formats so that the relevant sections can be accessed easily or the report can be read in its entirety:
