FE & skills sector leadership: The next generation

The 2012 LSIS Leadership and Management Conference will take place on Wednesday 29 February 2012 at One Drummond Gate in Victoria, central London.
The conference is aimed at first line and middle managers from across the further education and skills sector, and the day will consist of a combination of keynote speakers from the sector plus dynamic practical sessions on leadership in practice.

Understanding the context for future leadership
The conference will address how the national policy landscape will influence what is required from the next generation of leaders in the sector and how these future challenges could be met.
Next generation leadership
Anthony Bravo, Principal of Basingstoke College of Technology will outline his personal journey to executive leadership, examining the ways in which those currently in first line and middle management positions can develop in order to progress.
Skills development
Delegates will take part in a number of leadership in practice sessions designed to help develop the new thinking and skills required to be a successful leader in the sector.
Areas to be explored in these sessions will include the role of leadership in:
• meeting the needs of learners;
• collaboration and partnership;
• entrepreneurship; and
• developing people.
Leaders for the sessions so far include: Signe Sutherland, Deputy Principal at North Hertfordshire College; Judith Doyle, Deputy Principal at Gateshead College; Permjeet Panesar, Director of the Centre for Equality and Diversity at Suffolk College; Meredith Banbury, Assistant Principal Learner and Community Development at Lewisham College and Lorraine Bunyard, Managing Director of Davidson Training UK Ltd.
