There is an increasing focus on locality and on devolution of autonomy and responsibility to the frontline. These trends look set to continue irrespective of the outcome of the election, with the rising profile of the Total Place pilots and the necessity for public money to deliver better for less.
The materials were prepared for a seminar with the LSIS council to:
- review policy developments and drivers towards greater localism and devolution;
- consider the implications of these developments for different parts of the learning and skills sector in the short and longer-term;
- identify dilemmas and challenges, and the implications for the work of LSIS.
The discussion has informed LSIS planning and priorities for the coming year.
