The following improvement services support organsations in enhancing leadership, governance and management for innovation, improvement and change.
Coaching: Executives, Careers and Organisational Performance
This strand will offer a range of coaching programmes to improve individual and organisational performance. Coaching is about unlocking individual, team and organisational potential in order to maximise performance and enable positive change. By engaging with the facilitated coaching process the untapped potential within you, the team and organisation will be released in a more focused, expedient and sustainable way.
The current portfolio includes open workshops, online resources, regional networking opportunities and can also be tailored to offer specific programmes to meet your needs or built in to a wider bespoke offer of support.
Community Development
This strand will develop capacity and understanding of providers to analyse and effectively address the needs of their communities. Providers will be supported in taking a strategic approach on how they contribute to their community as well as encouraged to explore alternative modes of working such as sharing assets or developing social enterprises. Support will consist of best practice examples, leadership training, development of toolkits and themed training programmes. Support for community development can also be tailored to individual organisations and communities to target specific development needs such as guidance on developing a strategy for community development, engaging learners in the community and enhancing leadership skills of staff to work with the community and other agencies.
Continuous Improvement
This strand will develop a culture of continuous improvement in the organisation supported by mentoring and coaching by critical friends. Each organisation will receive a grant in exchange for a commitment to work in partnership with other provider organisations to build capacity through joint practice development and collaborative improvement. Impact will be designed to benefit stakeholders and the wider community in line with government aims towards social mobility and private sector growth.
Equality Diversity and Inclusion
This strand will build the capacity and develop confidence in Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) through a range of services to improve individual and organisational performance in EDI. These include bespoke or tailored training events, participation in staff development activities, e-resources to support self development activities, consultancy services, network and peer review activities, grant offers to encourage innovative and creative projects in EDI. These are then disseminated at annual events held across the regions, provider led learning events, seminars, conferences and partnership work with sector agencies.
Executive Leadership Development
This strand will meet the leadership continuing professional development needs of principals and chief executives in the sector. It will focus on current issues facing the sector and provide opportunities for training, learning from peer colleagues, coaching and mentoring and accessing external expertise.
Governance
This strand will contribute to the improvement of practice and performance of governance in the learning and skills sector. It will provide training for governors, trustees, non-executive directors and clerks to develop the skills and confidence they need in order to carry out their role effectively. It will also provide support for boards as a whole to review and enhance their collective performance.
Leadership and Management for First line, Middle and Senior leaders
This strand will prioritise succession planning for the sector, creating a larger pool of talent to improve choice of applicants for future senior and executive roles. The training pathways will improve performance in role by enhancing management skills and leadership knowledge, developing a broad appreciation of the scope and scale of effective leadership practice and increasing personal confidence in applying skills to the leadership of complex change.
Leadership Toolkits for ACL, WBL and ISCs
This strand will provide engaging online resources to improve leadership practice at all levels of learning provider organisations. This will be achieved through independent and/or supported blended learning approach to leadership and management development. Resources include downloadable diagnostic and self-assessment tools towards inspection-readiness; employer and learner responsiveness; safeguarding; equality and diversity. Increasing efficiency of the sector by providing resources to raise awareness and assess organisational efficiency and by reducing travel and material costs associated with learning via online and blended learning approach.
