FE Teacher/Trainer qualifications – have your say
The review of teacher training qualifications within the Further Education (FE) and skills sector is underway and from October you can get involved.
The Department for Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS) has asked us to conduct the review, ahead of the final report from the Lingfield Review the independent review of professionalism across the sector chaired by Lord Lingfield.
We’ve set up a project steering group, including BIS and employer membership bodies. The group will receive expert support from advisory groups made up of representatives from higher education institutions, awarding bodies that offer the qualifications and practitioners who deliver the qualifications.
The review will also be opened up to the sector and a number of events will be taking place from mid-October to the end of November. There are five free events open to all and these are now open for bookings via the LSIS events portal. These are:
• 18 October – Birmingham
• 8 November – London
• 13 November – Taunton
• 15 November – Leeds
• 20 November – London
You can also get involved by completing the online survey which will accessible from the Excellence Gateway, by using our self-facilitated packs to run your own event or by contributing via a sector membership bodies, which will carry out its own activities on LSIS’s behalf.
This phase of the review will take place from 15-October to 26 November. LSIS will then be providing guidance to awarding organisations and Higher Education Institutions in March and the new qualifications will be introduced from September 2013 onwards. For further information on how to take part, please email the LSIS FE Advice Service or call 0300 3031877.
